Norman Shutters are the only shutters available with the following features:
- Quarter-sawn louvers
(In quarter-sawing, the wood is harvested in a way that makes it less susceptible to cupping, twisting and warping. Cuts are made parallel to the wood medullary rays instead of across, which gives the louvers remarkable strength and stability.)
- Reinforced engineered stiles
(Multiple layers of wood are bonded together to bolster the stability of the core of the stile - making for a robust and hearty support system for your shutter.)
- Prescription Wood Conditioning
(Norman Shutters trademarked wood drying technique, dries the wood to emulate the environmental conditions of the location where the shutter will be installed. This practice also reduces post-installation shrinking and swelling.)
- Mortise-and-tenon joinery
(Traditionally used in demanding furniture and building construction, mortise and tenon joints are designed to withstand the shear stress and racking forces applied when operating a shutter. This makes the mortise and tenon and ideal joint for Norman Shutters.)
- Multi-step hand-finishing system
(Shutters are hand sanded and finished five times to create a lustrous finish.)
- Stainless steel louver staples
(Resist corrosion and will not rust.)

With Normandy shutters, you can keep it simple or have it all! That's the beauty of making it your own! Available in 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" louver sizes.
Note:
*For using the “L” frame without sill strip, add the following to the window measurements: 2” to the Height and 2” to the Width (that is for the size of the frame all around the shutter).
*For using the “L” frame with a sill strip, add the following to the window measurements: 2” to the width of the window and 1” to the height).
*A sill strip is used when one has a window sill that protrudes from the window. In these cases, a sill strip (a strip of wood) is placed on top of the window sill to support the shutter frame.
*For using the Deco frame without a sill strip, add 4” to the width and 4” to the height.
*For using the Deco frame with a sill strip, add 4” to the width and 2” to the height.
